Is flying safe for dog shipping?
Flying is just as safe for pets as it is for people. Pets usually travel in the cargo deck of an aircraft. The cargo deck section that carries pets is both climate controlled and pressurized for the pets safety and comfort. It is even on the same air circulation system that passengers using the cabin.
If you are moving from a cool climate to a warm climate or vice versa, the main concern is the temperature on the ground. Airlines will not ship a pet in extreme heat or cold because of this.
Should I tranquilized or sedated my dog for the trip?
You should consult your veterinarian before the trip. Your veterinarian will usually recommend against any tranquilization or sedation. The American Veterinary Medical Association highly recommends against sedation when pets are traveling by air.

Do I have to buy a crate or can I rent it?
Some pet transportation services do read rates for transportation.
Besides attaching the 2 portions of the crate you can attach a leash and collar in the top of the crate. It is not recommended that you send anything valuable since these items can easily be stolen during shipping. A blanket or towel with a familiar smell for comfort can easily go inside the crate. You can even put your pet’s favorite toy with them. Do not put any heavy objects that could be hazardous to your pet in the event of turbulence.
What if my pet needs to go to the bathroom during the flight?
Your crate should be lined with a thick layer of paper as well as shredded paper to absorb any accidents.
Can my pets being the same crate?
If your pets are under 6 months of age and the same species they can travel in the same crate. Otherwise, they need to be in separate plates that can be positioned next to each other on the aircraft.
