Memorial pet urns are very popular for pet owners these days. Most pet owners see their pet is a best friend or even a family member. It has been by their side through the good times and bad. It never holds a grudge when scolded for doing something wrong. Unlike humans, a pet gives you unconditional love. Because of this, many people will provide a proper memorial when their pet passes.
If you have chosen to cremate your beloved pet, a cremation urn is a wonderful way to remember them. There is an enormous variety of shapes, sizes and colors of urns to choose from, but before you choose there are some things you need to keep in mind.
1. How much can you afford? Pet urn prices range from $50 to over $100. Therefore, the more ornate and personalized you want your urn to be, the more expensive it will be.
2. Where will the urn be kept? Will it be displayed or buried? The answer to this question will help to determine the answer to the first question. If you have chosen the more expensive way then you plan to display the urn.
3. How do you choose urn? You must answer the first 2 questions before you choose an urn. How much you can spend and what you will do with the urn will depend on what type of urn you purchase. There are many types of urns available for you to choose from, standard urns, life-size figurine urns that look like your pet, box urns, memorial urns that usually include a photo of your pet, rock like urns that can be placed outside and even burial markers or headstones that contain urns that you can place in your yard.
4. Can the urn be personalized? This is a “duh” question. Of course, the urn can be personalized. The options to personalize the urn are limited only by your budget and the type of urn that you have chosen. Urns can be purchased with a brass plate that can be engraved by hand or laser depending on the material is made up of. Other urns have slots where you can insert pictures of your pet.
5. Where do you purchase an urn? You really only have a few choices here. You can purchase the urn from your veterinarian, the pet cemetery or a business that specializes in caskets and/or urns. The dictionary and may charge additional fees for transportation and markup costs, which would increase your cost. It would probably be a better idea to purchase from one of the latter 2 choices.
Choosing burial urns can be a difficult as well as an emotional experience, but it is a wonderful way to preserve the loving memory of your pet for years to come.
