VoIP for the Small Business

A small VoIP system (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the latest in today’s telephone technology. As you know, it routes regular telephone calls using broadband computer networks rather than traditional phone lines. Calls are literally sent over the Internet. All you need is a regular telephone, VoIP service provider and a VoIP adapter which is usually provided by the service provider.
It is a little more complicated for businesses. Most businesses would not want to send telephone calls over their internal network for the Internet. But they will consider using VoIP over their current telephone system for 3 main reasons:
- VoIP can be easily and quickly implemented.
- VoIP is easy to administer and monitor.
- VoIP can save businesses money.
There are some issues that a business should consider before getting VoIP. For example, can you use the small VoIP system with your existing telephone system? Will you need any additional software or hardware? Then there is always the biggest question, how much will it cost?
Any VoIP service provider or VoIP implementation specialists will be able to answer these questions and more. For a small business that works out of a home or over the Internet and has no main office, VoIP makes the most sense because it gives customers or clients the ability to contact you no matter where you are at. All telephone calls are routed to your existing business network and then routed to you. And even better incentive is that when they are routed to you from your system they cost you nothing. This will eliminate long distance calls on your bill when you are out of state or country. Small business telephone systems can easily save you thousands of dollars on this point.
